Founded by Terry Moore in 1997, Black Bear Woodworking is a group of passionate, creative, smart hands and technicians working together to help our clients realize their visions.
Terry has been crafting with wood, metal, acrylics and glass since 1993. His versatility and dynamic is due to experience working with a variety of woods, techniques, finishes and clients. He studied boat building at the Harbourfront Pier with Peter Code, traditional methods with Michael Fortune at the Craft & Design Studio at Sheridan College, and the scenic display/fine art service fields with master, Mac Thomas.
An apprenticeship under Master Woodworker, Buck Tibbitt at The Wood Studio, in Toronto, prepared Terry for his vocation.
Terry’s bespoke work breathes Scandinavian, Japanese, Mid-Century Modern, Arts and Crafts, Shaker, and Mission styles and oftentimes fuses elements from his native Canadian background.
He continues to be a humble student of his main influencers, George Nakashima, Frank Lloyd-Wright, James Krenov, Wharton Esherick, Finn Juhl, William Morris and Hans Wegner.
