Building With Us

If you’re thinking about getting custom millwork or furniture made for your home, welcome—you’re our kind of person. You’re probably not looking for something off-the-shelf, and neither are we.

Here’s the thing: we don’t run like a retail store. What we build is important to us. We don’t churn stuff out on autopilot. Every piece is thoughtfully planned, carefully crafted, and treated like the one-of-a-kind project it is. So no, this isn’t a “drop it in your cart and wait for the delivery truck” kind of situation.

Working with us is more like a collaboration than a transaction. We spend weeks (sometimes months) on a single project. That means we need to like each other a little. At the very least, we need to understand each other. And part of that is just doing what we say we’re going to do—on time, and with care. No runaround. Just trust, communication, and a healthy respect for your space (and our sanity).

For Clients & Homeowners

Whether you're dreaming up a piece of furniture or planning some built-in millwork, here's what we typically need to get the ball rolling:

Furniture Projects

  • Reference photo(s) of what you’re envisioning

  • Dimensions (or at least a ballpark)

  • Description of how you’d like to use it

  • Details about the space it’s going in (a quick snapshot helps!)

Furniture Reproductions

We don’t do exact replicas—but we can be inspired by a piece you love and build a version that’s better made, properly sized, and made to last.

  • A photo or link to the original piece

  • Your custom dimensions (width, depth, height)

  • Any notes on changes you’d like

  • Your material preference (or we’ll suggest one that suits the style)

We also talk more about why we don’t reproduce mass-manufactured furniture over here.

Millwork Projects (without drawings)

  • A photo of the space where it will be installed

  • Dimensions of the space (height, width, depth if possible)

  • Inspiration images for style reference

  • A rough sketch of your layout ideas (think: where you want drawers vs. cabinet doors, open shelves vs. closed storage, etc.)

Millwork Projects (with drawings)

  • Your PDF drawings

  • Any inspiration images that can inform style, if not noted in the package

For Designers & Architects

If you’re an architect or designer and you’ve got drawings ready, here’s what we’ll need to quote accurately

  • PDF or CAD drawings of the millwork (elevations, sections, and plan views where applicable)

  • Key dimensions clearly noted (especially depth and ceiling heights)

  • Material specs, if known (we’re happy to advise if you’re still deciding)

  • Hardware or functional details, if they’re already selected (push-to-open,

    integrated lighting, specialty hinges, etc.)

  • Finish direction—even just “matte black oak” or “painted to match wall colour” gives us a starting point

  • Inspiration images, if style cues aren’t obvious from the drawings (helps us understand the intended feel and finish level)

If there’s anything ambiguous in the drawings, a short note explaining the intent goes a long way.

We’ll review everything and get back to you with questions if we need clarification. Otherwise, we’ll put together a quote that reflects the scope and craftsmanship involved.
